The FGM NCG Conference
2010 |

Safeguarding Women & Children - A Healther Future
Without FGM
The FGM NCG was founded in 2006, as
it became clear to us as a group of health care
professionals that not all of our colleagues have the
knowledge and experience to care for women and children
whom have suffered from FGM,
we
believe that FGM
should become part of core training for midwives,
nurses, obstetricians and gynaecologists, mental health
professionals and health visitors.
After a very successful conference
in 2008 we now have an exciting conference planned for
the 2010, the main theme of this conference will be
around the issues of safeguarding women and children in
the UK whom at risk of FGM. We will also launch an
educational DVD which clearly instructs and
shows doctors, midwives and nurses how to undertake a
reversal operation.
We are delighted to have both
international and national speakers at the event include
Professor Dame Christine Beasley Chief Nurse for England
Professor Sir
Sabaratnam Arul Kumaran,
President of the Royal College of Obstetricans, plus our
two Patrons Baroness Ruth Rendell and Professor Cathy
Warwick CBE general secretary of the Royal College of
Midwives.
We are inviting submissions for a
poster presentation on the subject of FGM the theme is
safeguarding and we would like to see any initiatives
that are happening around the country, these may
include the care of women and children, raising the
publics knowledge of FGM or preventing FGM in the UK.
The posters will be judged by the member of the group
and the winners announced at the end of the conference.
For a submission form, please click
on the "Poster presentation" tap on the left menu.
